President Emmerson Mnangagwa has challenged religious institutions to take a more hands-on approach in the country’s development agenda, urging them to move beyond their traditional spiritual duties.
Speaking at the National Spiritual Conference, the President said churches should no longer confine themselves to prayer and worship but must actively partner with government in driving economic growth and social transformation.
Mnangagwa highlighted the need for faith-based organisations to support national programmes aimed at improving livelihoods and building a prosperous Zimbabwe. He stressed that the church has a critical role to play in shaping values, promoting hard work, and fostering unity among citizens.
The conference brought together leaders from various denominations to discuss ways the church can contribute to national development. The President’s remarks are expected to spur greater collaboration between government and religious groups.
