Three people have died and 19 others are injured following a head-on collision between a commuter omnibus (kombi) and a truck in Harare.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed that the accident took place at around 17:30 hours on Wednesday along Glen Eagles Road, near First Class Bus Garage.

According to police, the Toyota Hiace kombi was carrying 20 passengers, while the Mercedes-Benz truck had three people on board.

Three passengers died in the crash, and their bodies were transported to Sally Mugabe Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examinations. The 19 injured victims were admitted to the same hospital for medical attention.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation. Police did not immediately provide further details on the circumstances leading to the accident.

This incident underscores the persistent road safety challenges in Zimbabwe, where commuter omnibus accidents frequently result in multiple fatalities. Authorities continue to urge drivers to exercise caution and comply with traffic regulations.
